If it gets good reviews people will buy it whether it is SST or 'Baby Bug Petting Zoo 101' LOL. You dont have to be a fan of the genre to like a really good game.

I dont even love Turnbased that much but it is so fun and surprising. If it is a really good game it will sell itself, I never even heard of Divinty now I buy every one of the games, no questions asked. I am happy to pay for more and I am happy to pay to get things I like. Since they keep the devs in beer and skittles after the main unit is launched. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan and I'm looking forward to this game but my concern is that it's going to be dead on arrival because of it's lack of appeal. You only get one launch to make impressions and launching a single player RTS with an IP that hasn't been used in 15 years isn't likely going to sell the game extremely well. I agree in theory but this is a small IP in a niche genre market. Especially if it sells well then they can make a really good multiplayer package and take the time to make it right. I know its not planned for now and that is a good thing, focus on making a great game with lots of content and that runs well.ДЄ multiplayer DLC later, is better than splitting the effort and having to balance it now. Multiplayer meh, not at all interested, especially if it will make the game dumbed down and less expansive and require it to be play balanced. Scenario and unit editor are also a must.

If this was an FPS or turn based strategy game, I could for sure see how they could have some success focusing on single-player but this game is going to come and pass really quickly with a niche this small. It's odd to choose the RTS genre for your game and then omit the fundamentals of why that genre is successful. However, the RTS genre is literally built on the premise of multiplayer, competition, and co-op. That's absolutely fine to have an interest in only Single Player.

I get that a lot of people like multiplayer, but there are also those that have no interest in it, myself included. Starship Troopers film franchise is a pretty niche IP, most of the general public are only aware of the first movie, and that's 20 years old. I have no idea what kind of resources they're putting behind this, but I'd have to guess it's on a tight budget.
